Within the city of Kelowna, there are cultural events and special events. There is rarely any time that passes without their being anything new or fun to do. Individuals who want the experience of festivals could come and enjoy the Mardi Gras Street Festival, Fat Cats Children's Festival, Parks Alive and Okanagan Wine Festival. Fat Cat Children's Festival is funded locally and operated by volunteers. It attracts numerous parents and kids each and every year. Mardi Gras provides restaurants and pubs all throughout the night. There are even stage performances and children's activity zone including climbing wall and dunk tank. Okanagan Wine Festivals are held three times in the Okanagan Valley. Everybody is invited to attend educational seminars, eat native cuisine and try award-winning wines. Parks Alive is a non-profit program which brings art and culture to Kelowna's parks and lakefront from the month of June to the month of September.
